I really like the images but when you click on to view the image is the same size & even though it is the only one on the page you have to go into another window to view it properly, its a bit of a nuisance when viewing them all

This could be connected to your browser settings, since no images should force you to open a new window? If you are talking about the 'large' view where it opens at almost full screen, then this is fairly standard with stores like this one, because very large pictures on the main page can slow down the site.
